If the hoses are subjected to long-term exposure of temperatures exceeding well above 250 Degrees Celsius (482 F) from the outside, these heat-shields provide more than sufficient insulation so as to protect the rubber, enhancing the life of the hose. Without these heat-shields, the Silicone will deteriorate rapidly if exposed to these type of temperatures for long time-periods.
This latest development in heat-shields includes hoses wherein the shield is calendared onto the Silicone cover (bonded into the hose partly, or wholly).
